The Opportunity

Searching for your next challenge? We are looking for a VP of People Operations/HR. In this role, you will execute on key HR initiatives including talent acquisition, cultural initiatives, performance management, career development and training, diversity, equity and inclusion, and benefits and compliance. 

Reporting to the CEO, the VP of People Operations/HR  is a critical position that will provide guidance and leadership, play a key role in driving the next phase of growth, and develop an environment where our team can thrive. 


  • Own and drive talent acquisition through effective recruiting and hiring practices, including defining processes, sourcing, engaging with candidates, promoting diversity, utilizing tools and external recruiters, training hiring managers, and closing candidates. 

  • Participate in the payroll process with finance. 

  • Own employee benefits administration. 

  • Strengthen our compensation philosophy to ensure fair, equitable payment practices across all job functions. 

  • Onboard and offboard employees. 

  • Serve as the advisor to the leadership team on all people-related management matters to ensure the company has the talent, processes/systems, and policies necessary to support strategic and financial goals. 

  • Drive an awesome, team-based corporate culture environment

  • Design and cultivate positive experiences at every step of the employee journey, building thoughtful practices that engage and retain employees. 

  • Cultivate a company environment that celebrates diversity and inclusion among people of varied backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. 

  • Strengthen our people analytics and utilize a data-driven approach to identify trends and recommend proactive solutions for employee performance, retention, and engagement. 

  • Build trust with employees across all layers of the organization and be an active listener and effective problem solver of people issues. 

  • Enhance team-wide learning and professional development programs. 

  • Ensure that the executive team has the “pulse of the company” in order to make proactive and effective organizational decisions. 

  • Ensure administrative recordkeeping and employment practices are compliant with all applicable laws and regulations, in collaboration with internal and/or external counsel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong working knowledge of all HR functional areas including recruiting, onboarding, training and development, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits

  •  A self-starter that excels in a “lean startup” environment of experimentation, learning, and execution

  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills 

  • Experience with both a remote-based & office work environment with a workforce of 100 employees (with plans to scale)

  • Process-driven while also flexible 

  • Comfortable in a dynamic, entrepreneurial, and always evolving startup environment 

  • High emotional intelligence and an ability to navigate and discuss challenging but important topics

  • You are located or willing to relocate to Austin, Texas  

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of experience in HR/Recruitment/Business Leadership roles

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Communications or related field

  • Deep understanding of multiple HR disciplines, including compensation practices, diversity, performance management, and federal/state respective
